Beryllium Copper Stamped Clips for the Military/Aerospace Industry

At OMNI Engineering, Inc. we specialize in high volume, precision stampings. The project highlighted here exemplifies our ability to produce high volume, high precision components. These retainer clips and high amperage connector contacts were designed for use in military and commercial aircraft.

Composed of UNS C17200 beryllium copper, the finished products had to meet three individual ASTM standards, MIL-H-7199, and QQ-N-290 for nickel plating. Consisting of three products, a retainer clip and two contacts, the miniature and micro miniature stamping was performed with progressive dies on 22 ton Bruderer presses. Manufactured in various sizes, all met tolerances of ±0.0002", and angular tolerances of ±1/2°, which was verified through dimensional, gage, and visual inspections.

Stamped retainer clips featured dimensions of .103" of O.D., .148" in height, and are .005" thick. The two connectors feature dimensions of .056" to .450" of O.D., .180" to .317" in height, and .0030" to .0062" in thickness.

After stamping, the retainer clips were bright hardened, one of the connectors was heat treated and received nickel and gold plating, while the second connector was bright hardened, and received nickel, gold, and sliver plating. Quality of finished products is maintained through the use of a F.O.V. Smartscope automated Inspection system. We currently manufacture 100,000 to 15 million of these electrical components annually to customer throughout the Southwest.
